The Baltimore Firefighters Community Advisory Council will provide an opportunity to enhance engagement among Union members and Community members.

Mr. Jason Plotkin

Jason Plotkin, CEO

The Pinder Plotkin Legal Team is honored to announce that Jason A. Plotkin, Esq., has been appointed as the inaugural Chairman of the Baltimore Firefighters Community Advisory Council (BFCAC). The BFCAC will facilitate input from the Residential/Commercial Community of the City of Baltimore and the Firefighters, EMTs, Paramedics and Dispatchers in the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) Local 734 (Baltimore Firefighters Local 734) in an effort to:

  • Share ideas, perspectives and opinions;
  • Enhance engagement between the Union and the community;
  • Advocate for the allocation of community resources by City of Baltimore; and
  • Promote issues of relevance as they relate to the Fire Department.

“This council grew out of a frustration with the City of Baltimore threatening to close firehouses in the middle of the pandemic,” said Plotkin. “I look forward to helping forge lasting relationships among the community and the brave first responders that run into danger every day on their behalf,” said Plotkin.

“It became apparent that the Baltimore Residential and Business Community were rallying behind the grassroots efforts of the Union to save Engine Co. #4 and Engine Co. #55,“ said Richard Langford, President of Baltimore Firefighters Local 734. “The BFCAC provides a great opportunity to turn that momentum into a lasting community partnership,” said Langford. “The Union is extremely excited to appoint Jason A. Plotkin, Esq., as the inaugural Chairman for the council,” said Langford. “He comes from a family of firefighters and has been a longtime advocate for the Union members, including his free will program for first responders,” said Langford.

Leadership: The BFCAC will operate under the leadership of a Chairperson and two Vice-Chairs, comprised of two Union Members and one-Non-Union Member. The BFCAC operates independently from the Baltimore City Fire Department.

Membership: BFCAC members must be at least 18 years old and live and/or do business in the City of Baltimore. Individuals who are interested in joining the BFAC may submit an application at: https://www.pinderplotkin.com/bfcac/

Time Commitment: BFCAC members are requested to participate in four in person meetings per year (as permitted by social distancing, via Zoom initially). There will be plenty of additional opportunities to volunteer as needed on projects and at community events. BFCAC members will serve a two-year term.

“I look forward to helping forge lasting relationships among the community and the brave first responders that run into danger every day on their behalf.”
